The History

The Collaboration

Enter Chris Stapleton, the 8X Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and Buffalo Trace master distiller Harlen Wheatley. As per usual when two talented craftspeople collaborate, it’s either a massive failure with no clear direction, a mediocrely middling effort, or a hugely resounding success. As far as we can tell The Traveller is very much the latter.

The Creation

Traveller stands as a blended whiskey, skillfully crafted through a blend of spirits sourced from various "award-winning distilleries" under the Sazerac company's ownership. Unlike the exclusivity of utilizing only Buffalo Trace-distilled whiskey, Traveller draws from a diverse range of sources, potentially including Buffalo Trace, A. Smith Bowman, Barton 1792, and international operations. Master Distiller Wheatley meticulously tested over 50 blends before selecting the refined Blend No. 40, the essence you'll find in each bottle. Notably, in contrast to the elusive nature of Pappy, Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, or W.L. Weller, Traveller distinguishes itself by being widely available and accessible without allocation constraints.

Here’s what the master distiller had to say regarding his concoction.

“In creating Traveller, we tried over 50 different recipes, experimenting, testing, and adjusting until we found a complex and approachable flavor profile worthy of the whiskey drinker who will enjoy it,” Wheatley said in a statement. “In the end, there was one clear winner—Blend No. 40—that everyone agreed was worthy to be Traveller Whiskey.”
