Nestled along the banks of the Pitilie Burn—renowned for its gold-rich waters—Aberfeldy has long been prized for producing smooth, honeyed single malts that embody both tradition and finesse. This rare 25-year-old expression was specially crafted to commemorate the distillery’s 125th anniversary, showcasing whisky aged in refill hogsheads before being finished in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks from Jerez, Spain.
The result is a luxuriously rich and complex dram. Tasting notes reveal a deep nose of honeycomb, dried fruits, figs, and dark chocolate, lifted by hints of cinnamon and toasted almonds. On the palate, layers of sherried fruitcake, black cherries, and roasted hazelnuts intertwine with soft oak, leather, and sweet spice. The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of vanilla toffee and gentle nutmeg.
Bottled at 46% ABV, natural color, and non-chill-filtered, this limited edition release boasts both purity and intensity. Only a select number of bottles were produced, making it a coveted collector’s item.
