Nelson’s Green Brier head distiller, Brandon O’Daniel, is always talking about how much he loves bourbons aged in red wine casks. It’s why Nelson Brothers Madeira Cask finished bourbon is one of his favorite cask finishes. American oak barrels, previously used to age sweet Malmsey Madeira wine, are filled with our Nelson Brothers bourbon and aged an additional 3-18 months in the Madeira casks. Madeira wine is known for its dark sweetness with notes of caramel, coffee and dried fruit. It brings out in the bourbon notes of raisin, brown sugar, vanilla and cocoa.

Nose: raisin, cherry pie, brown sugar
Palate: honey roasted nut, mixed berry, vanilla
