OK, I bought this bourbon and wasn’t really sure what I was getting. What is Whistlepig know for? Who are the boys? And why is there a barstool on the label? So before I tell you what I thought about the bourbon, I will tell you what I found when I did some research. Whistlepig is known for their Rye. They are now venturing into producing bourbon. Bussin With The Boys is a sports media podcast, part of the Barstool sports network. The Boys were sponsored by Whistlepig for some time. They were chosen to select a single barrel bourbon, out of 4 preselected by Whistepig, that they would help to market. An interesting tidbit, you’ll see a red barstool on the label. A barstool was actually added to the barrel for the finish. Now, what do I think about this bourbon? I’m not an expert, but I really like it. I prefer to have my bourbon in a rocks glass with one large ice cube. I tasted caramel, vanilla, maple, and some spice. There is a nice, lingering finish that is sweet with maple and baking spices. I recommend giving this bourbon a try.
