Centuries ago, in pre-hispanic Mexico a lightning bolt struck the gem (or heart) of the maguey plant, roasting and fermenting its sugars, and out poured the sacred and mystical sap known today as Mezcal. Hundreds of years later, artist-alchemist duo AdrinAdrina and Elliott Coon, both daughters of bohemian bootleggers, started brewing their own spirits and infusing elixirs. Together, the duo are powered by the belief that a positive lifestyle elevates consciousness…and thus GEM&BOLT was born.
Handcrafted by fourth generation Maestro Mezcaleros, GEM&BOLT is a small batch, artisanal Mezcal produced using traditional methods with no artificial yeast or chemicals. Using mature (8 to 10 yr) 100% Espadin Agave from the high lands of Oaxaca, GEM&BOLT is a clean spirit, first distilled in small copper stills and then rested (not aged) in oak barrels for 3 to 6 months prior to its second distillation with the traditional Mexican herb Damiana giving GEM&BOLT a smooth (less smokey) profile with subtle herbal notes.
